PAD4O focuses on the development of leadership skills in the context of healthy, active living and recreational planning. Students explore the benefits of physical activity, plan fitness and recreational programs, and lead others in health-promoting activities.

Emphasis is placed on personal fitness, interpersonal communication, and leadership development—ideal for students interested in sports, health sciences, kinesiology, or community wellness programs.

Unit 1: Personal Fitness and Healthy Active Living

Students assess and enhance their own physical health and wellness.
Lessons include:

  • 70% of the final grade is based on coursework, including:
    • Fitness tracking and reflection logs

    • Recreation program planning and leadership tasks

  • 30% of the final grade is based on final evaluations:
    • 10% Culminating strategic leadership project

    • 20% Final exam on management theory, planning, and leadership practices
