Unit 1: Astronomy

Students explore the origin, structure, and evolution of the universe and solar system.
Lessons include:
  • History and Tools of Astronomy

  • The Big Bang and Cosmic Evolution

  • Stars, Galaxies, and Nebulae

  • The Life Cycle of Stars

  • The Solar System and Planetary Science

  • Space Exploration and Technologies

Unit 2: Planetary Science

This unit investigates the internal structure and surface processes of Earth and other celestial bodies
Lessons include:
  • Earth’s Layers and Plate Tectonics

  • Volcanoes, Earthquakes, and Geologic Activity

  • Comparing Planetary Geologies

  • Surface Features of the Moon and Mars

  • Geological Time and Radiometric Dating

Unit 3: Management Challenges

Students examine real-world organizational challenges and human behaviour.

Unit 3: Climate Science and Meteorology

Unit 4: Earth Materials and Resources

  • Mining, Extraction, and Resource Management

  • Environmental Effects of Resource Use

Unit 5: Final Evaluation

Students demonstrate mastery of Earth and space science concepts.

  • 70% of the final grade is based on coursework, including:
    • Earth science lab reports and virtual simulations

    • Astronomy models and planetary comparisons

    • Weather map analysis and data interpretation

    • Investigative reports on natural resources and climate

  • 30% of the final grade is based on final evaluations:
    • 10% Culminating research or applied science project

    • 20% Final exam covering all five units
